Privacy Policy — Genie Player
Summary: Agate Arch Technologies LLC does not operate servers that collect your watch history, provider passwords, or other personal app data. Information you enter and progress you make are stored on your device so the app can work. When you play content, your device talks to servers and URLs you or your IPTV provider configure. Optional Genie Pro features may fetch public metadata (for example cast photos) from Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons; those requests go from your device to those third parties, not to us. We do not use in-app analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services that send data to Agate Arch Technologies LLC.
1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy applies to the Genie Player application and related support pages published by Agate Arch Technologies LLC (“Agate Arch,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
Website: https://agatearch.com/
Privacy / support contact: GeniePlayer@AgateArch.com
2. What Genie Player is
Genie Player is a general media player for user-provided IPTV-style sources (for example M3U-style playlists and Xtream API–style portals). We do not provide channels, video-on-demand libraries, playlists, or subscription services. All catalogs and streams come from configuration and services you supply.
By using the app you also agree to our in-app End User License Agreement (EULA). If the EULA and this Privacy Policy conflict on privacy topics, this Privacy Policy controls for privacy matters.
3. Information Agate Arch does not collect
We do not operate backend servers that receive or store your app usage data. In particular, we do not:
- Collect or store your provider URLs, usernames, passwords, profiles, favorites, watch history, or search queries on our systems;
- Sell personal information;
- Run first-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting pipelines that transmit app data to Agate Arch Technologies LLC;
- Require an Agate Arch account to use the app.
If we introduce collection in the future, we will update this policy and applicable store disclosures before enabling it.
4. Information stored and processed on your device
To provide features you expect, Genie Player locally on your device may store and process:
- Provider configuration — server addresses, credentials, and related settings needed to connect to your sources;
- Profiles and preferences — language, layout, playback options, blocked/hidden content, and similar settings;
- Catalog and metadata caches — channel lists, VOD/series rows, artwork, and related data retrieved from your providers (stored in on-device databases and caches for performance and offline browsing where implemented);
- Watch progress and lists — continue watching, My List, and related viewing state;
- Legal acceptance flags — for example whether you accepted the EULA;
- Genie Pro entitlement state — whether Pro features are active on this device (see Section 6).
Sensitive values (such as provider credentials) may use platform secure storage where available. This information is used to operate the app on your device and is not uploaded to Agate Arch as part of normal app operation.
5. Network activity — your providers and CDNs
When you use Genie Player, your device sends ordinary network requests to endpoints you or your IPTV provider supply, which may include:
- Portal or API hosts for live TV, VOD, and series catalogs;
- Stream URLs and CDNs that deliver media;
- Artwork and metadata hosts referenced in provider responses.
Agate Arch does not control those services. They may log technical data typical of internet traffic (such as IP address, user agent, or request timing) under their policies. Review your provider’s terms and privacy notices for questions about those services.
The app may connect to user-specified servers over HTTP as well as HTTPS where your configuration allows. You are responsible for the security and legality of sources you add.
Opening external links (for example trailers) may take you to third-party sites we do not operate.
6. Genie Pro subscriptions
Some features are offered under an optional Genie Pro subscription on supported stores. When you purchase or restore Pro:
- Payment and subscription status are handled by the app store platform (Apple App Store, Google Play, or another supported store). We do not receive your payment card details;
- The store may provide us or our billing integration with a subscription or receipt token so the app can unlock Pro features on your device;
- Store platforms process personal data under their own privacy policies.
On builds where Pro billing is not yet connected, Pro may be unavailable or enabled only for testing via in-app developer settings.
7. Optional metadata enrichment (Genie Pro)
When Genie Pro is active, the app may enrich title details from public metadata services. These requests are initiated from your device, cached locally, and are not sent to Agate Arch servers:
- Wikidata (wikidata.org, query.wikidata.org) — may receive public identifiers (such as TMDB IDs derived from provider metadata) or person names you tap to search related titles;
- Wikimedia Commons (commons.wikimedia.org, upload.wikimedia.org) — may receive image URL requests for cast portraits and similar artwork.
Requests use a descriptive User-Agent identifying Genie Player as a client application. Wikimedia and Wikidata may log standard web request data. Their policies apply to that processing.
Without Genie Pro, the app does not perform these Wikidata/Wikimedia enrichment calls for gated features.
8. Background tasks and platform integrations
Background catalog refresh
On supported Android builds, the app may schedule background work (for example via Android WorkManager) to refresh provider catalogs you have configured. This work runs on your device and communicates with your configured providers, not with Agate Arch.
Android Auto
On supported Android builds, Genie Player may expose browse and playback metadata to Android Auto so you can control playback from a connected vehicle interface. Information shown there comes from content you are playing and metadata already on the device.
Backup and export
If you use in-app backup, export, or restore features, files are read or written where you choose on your device or cloud storage (for example via the system file picker). We do not receive those files unless you separately send them to us for support.
9. Permissions and platform disclosures
Depending on your device, OS version, and app build, Genie Player may request permissions such as:
| Permission / capability | Why it is used |
|---|---|
| Internet / network access | Connect to your configured providers, streams, and optional public metadata services (Section 7). |
| Wake lock | Help keep playback stable during streaming. |
| Wi‑Fi / network state | Detect connectivity for playback and catalog operations. |
| Foreground service (media playback / data sync) | Ongoing playback notifications and background catalog refresh where the platform requires a foreground service. |
| Notifications | Playback controls or system notifications where applicable. |
| Storage (read/write) | Cache artwork and media-related data; support backup/export on some Android versions. |
| Boot completed | Reschedule background catalog refresh after device restart where enabled. |
The permission list shown by your app store or OS at install time is authoritative for your build.
10. Retention and deletion
Because we do not hold your app data on our servers, deletion is primarily under your control:
- Use in-app clear data options or uninstall the app to remove locally stored information, subject to how your device and OS handle residual data;
- Removing a provider configuration stops the app from using those credentials;
- If you email us for support and voluntarily include information, we retain that correspondence only as needed to respond and as described in our reply.
11. Security
We design the app to use reasonable platform features (such as encrypted or secure storage for sensitive values where implemented). No app or device is perfectly secure. Use a device passcode, keep your OS updated, and only add providers you trust.
12. Children’s privacy
Genie Player is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required where you live). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children on our systems. If you believe we received child-related information in error via support email, contact GeniePlayer@AgateArch.com.
13. International users
Agate Arch Technologies LLC is based in the United States. Your device processes and stores data locally as described above. Your configured providers and optional metadata services may operate in other countries. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal information — contact us regarding information you sent us directly (for example support email). Rights relating to providers you configure must be exercised with those providers.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will change the “Last updated” date and post the new version at this URL (or a successor URL linked from the app store listing). Where required by law, we will provide additional notice.
